The cleaner the source photo, the better the rendered hero. Aim for:

• Front-facing or slight angle (not pure profile)
• Good lighting (natural daylight is ideal)
• Face clearly visible, no sunglasses or heavy filters
• One person per photo - group shots confuse the model
• Higher resolution is better (smartphone photos work great)

You can upload multiple photos to help us lock in their look.

Yes. You confirm during checkout that you have permission to use any photos you upload. For comics about minors, you need consent from a parent or legal guardian.

No. We only make comics personalized to specific real people the buyer knows. Public figures, fictional characters, and copyrighted personas are off-limits - both for legal reasons and because the magic of the gift depends on it being for someone specific you care about.

Yes. The comic centers on a hero - the person you're giving it to - but you can add up to three supporting characters in the order form. Couples, best friends, family, owner + pet - all supported. The hero stays the centerpiece of the cover, with the others woven into the story.

The more specific, the better the result. Names, the city they live in, what they do for work, the inside jokes that make the relationship real, the moments that shaped them. The order form walks you through it - don't skip the "personal details" section.

We use a custom AI-assisted pipeline combining generative models with our own creative and rendering systems. A story is written from your inputs, then drawn panel by panel in a chosen visual style, then assembled into a 26-page high-resolution PDF.

Every comic is one-of-one - no templates. The output looks like something a small publishing house would spend a week producing.

You'll get an order-confirmation email with a status link. The page updates as your comic is being made - when it's done, you can download the PDF from there. You'll also receive a delivery email when it's ready.

Right now we deliver the finished comic directly - no preview step. If you want changes after seeing it, every order includes one free revision (see below). We're considering adding a preview-and-approve step for higher-tier orders; tell us if you'd want this.

Digital comics work everywhere. Printed editions are coming soon, including Standard Print and Premium Hardcover options. We're finalizing print-partner details to ensure the quality matches the digital edition. When print launches, existing customers will be invited to order a printed copy of their comic.

Email support@heroandink.com with your order ID. Each order includes one free revision - we can regenerate panels or adjust facial details to match. Usually resolved within 24-48 hours.

Same answer - email us with what you'd like changed. The free revision covers story tweaks too, not just art adjustments.

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to request a full refund. Printed editions have a separate carve-out because they're custom-made.

We store them in private cloud storage to produce your comic. We retain them for up to 90 days to support revisions, then they auto-delete. We never sell your data and we don't use your photos to train AI models - ours or anyone else's.

Yes. Email us with your order ID and we'll delete them immediately. Note that we may not be able to do revisions after deletion.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. The site uses TLS encryption end to end.
