How it works

From a few photos to a 26-page comic about them.

Five short steps for you. Then we write their story, draw all 26 pages, and a person checks every one before we email you the PDF: typically the same day, always within 24 hours.

Your part

Five short steps, the same five you'll see in the form.

  1. Step 1 of 5 · Who it's for

    Tell us who it's for

Their name, how you know them, and the occasion.

  2. Step 2 of 5 · Dedication

Write a dedication, if you like

A few words for page 2. You see the page as you type. Leave it empty and we write one for them.

  3. Step 3 of 5 · Photos

    Add 1 to 3 photos

Clear photos make the likeness. 1 is enough, 3 is best.

  4. Step 4 of 5 · Look and feel

    Choose the look

Six styles. Here is the same hero, Diego, in every one of them.

    See them as the hero.

Choose a style and press the preview button. In about 30 seconds you see them drawn from your photos, in that style. Free, before you pay. Your book starts from this portrait.

  5. Step 5 of 5 · Details

Tell us what makes them them

Their city and the little things only you know. The details are what make it personal.

Questions

Before you start

What exactly do I get?

A 26-page premium comic book personalized to your recipient. It includes a custom cover, dedication page, full 3-act story arc, epilogue, and back cover. Delivered as a high-resolution PDF with 50+ individually composed comic panels across its 26 pages. Printed editions are coming soon, including Standard Print and Premium Hardcover options.

How long does it take?

Typically the same day, always within 24 hours. We email you the moment it's ready. If we ever take longer than 24 hours, tell us and we'll make it right, up to a full refund. That's in our Terms, not just a promise.

What kind of photos work best?

The cleaner the source photo, the better the rendered hero. Aim for:

  • Front-facing or slight angle (not pure profile)
  • Good lighting (natural daylight is ideal)
  • Face clearly visible, no sunglasses or heavy filters
  • One person per photo, so we know exactly whose face to draw
  • Higher resolution is better (smartphone photos work great)
Do I need permission to use someone's photo?

Yes. You confirm in the order form that you have permission to use any photos you upload. For comics about minors, you need consent from a parent or legal guardian.

What if the face doesn't look like the recipient?

Email support@heroandink.com with your order ID. Each order includes one free revision: we can redraw panels or adjust facial details to match. Usually resolved within 24-48 hours.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to request a full refund. Printed editions have a separate carve-out because they're custom-made.
