What is in the book
- 26 pages: a cover with their face, a dedication page, 22 story pages, an epilogue and a back cover. More than 50 panels in all.
- Their city: real streets and landmarks from where they live, or the place that matters to the two of you.
- Up to four characters: your partner as the star, and you, the kids, a friend or a pet beside them, each drawn from photos.
- One of six styles: Modern Comic, 3D Animation, Cyberpunk, Anime, Watercolor or Dark Fantasy. The styles page shows one hero drawn in all six. For a partner, most people choose Modern Comic.
- A role: a Hero story, where they save the day, or a Villain story, where they are the magnificent villain. How to choose.
It is an original story, not a template with a name swapped in. The occasion you pick, a birthday, an anniversary, Valentine's Day or no reason at all, shapes the dedication and the epilogue.
How it works
The order form has five short steps:
- Who it is for: their name, who they are to you, the occasion, and your email.
- Dedication: a few lines for the first page inside the cover, or leave it empty and we write one.
- Photos: one to three clear photos of each person. One is enough; three is best. The photos are used only to make the comic and kept in private storage.
- Look and feel: the style, and a story direction suggested from the occasion that you can change.
- Details: their city, and the things that make them them: habits, inside jokes, names to include, anything to keep out of the story.
Then you pay $49 USD at checkout. We write the story from your answers, draw it from your photos in the style you chose, and a person checks every page before it is sent. How to make it feel like them
The story is only as specific as what you tell us. The details that work best:
- A habit that can become a power: the way he fixes anything, the way she remembers every name, the coffee that appears before anyone asks.
- Two or three inside jokes, quoted exactly: the nickname, the thing one of you always says, the disaster date. Quoted lines often end up in a speech bubble.
- Real places: the bar where you met, the street of your first apartment, the park where you walk the dog.
- The feeling you want: a big laugh, a quiet cry, or both. Say so and the story is tuned to it.
- Good photos: clear, in daylight, faces visible, no sunglasses. Recent photos work best.
Keeping it a surprise
You do not need them to do anything. Most people already have enough photos of their partner on their phone, and you already know the details. Nothing is sent to them: the PDF comes to your email, and you decide when and how they see it, on their phone, on a screen together, or printed.
Printing it
The PDF is high resolution and ready to print at a local print shop or at home. Printed editions from us are on the way, but for now the book is delivered digitally.
Is it right for your partner?
It is a good fit if they have a sense of humor about themselves, if your relationship has its own jokes and places, or if they are hard to buy for because they already have everything.
