See them as the hero before you pay
The hardest part of ordering a comic about someone you love is the moment before you pay: will it look like them? Since 1 October the order form answers that before you decide. Once your photos and style are in, a button reads "See Sam as the hero", with your person's name in place of Sam, and draws them for free from the photos you uploaded, in the style you chose.
How it works
- Fill in the form as usual: who it is for, the dedication, one to three photos of each person, the look and feel, the details.
- Once your photos and style are in, tick that you have permission to use the photos, then press "See Sam as the hero". It is free and takes about 30 seconds.
- Your person appears, drawn from their photos in the style you picked, in their own clothes, marked as a preview with our badge in the corner. The preview shows the main character only, not everyone in the story.
If you chose a Villain story, the button says "See Sam as the villain" instead.
Why it matters
- You see the likeness before you pay. The preview is drawn from the same photos you uploaded, in the style your book will be drawn in.
- Your book starts from this hero. When you order, your comic starts from the portrait you saw, and it still goes through our normal likeness check.
- Not quite them? Clearer, front-facing photos help. Each order gets two tries: the first preview and one "Try again".
- If you do not order, your photos and the preview are deleted 30 days after your last activity.
Everything else is the same
The comic itself has not changed: an original 26-page story written from your answers, with your person on the cover and their city as the setting, checked page by page by a person before it is sent. It is $49 USD, delivered as a high-resolution PDF, typically the same day and always within 24 hours. Every order includes one free revision, and the promise on the last step still stands: "Love it, or get a full refund within 14 days."
